Keep in mind, much like Lice, these critters don't care how clean & sanitary a room or home is. So even the best hotels can have this pest.

Don't Let the Bed Bugs Bite!
As vacation season looms in the future, many of us will be spending time in hotels. It's been no secret that the hotel industry has suffered from the economy, however what the industry has not addressed enough is the outbreak of bed bugs. If you are frequent traveler of cities such as New York, Cincinnati, or Chicago, the bed bug problem is huge! So much so that there have been conferences held in recent months on how to address the pest control aspect. The current chemicals that are used are not working due to the resistance these bugs have when it comes to chemical agents. What can you do to prevent taking these critters home with you? 1. Thoroughly check bedding, especially around the headboard & mattress areas. 2. Check inside all drawers, including the nightstands. 3. Check closet shelves and carpet edges, especially within 5 feet of the bed. 4. Report any evidence to the hotel staff. Do not just move into another room. Thoroughly inspect your new room assignment as well as your luggage when you repack. Next month, we'll address how to prevent bed bugs in the home.
